Subject: Heroes like Juan Need our Help

Dear Robert,
A month away from returning back home from his second tour in Iraq, Army Staff Sergeant Juan Amaris had his life changed. While investigating suspicious activity, his truck suddenly exploded.
Days later he woke up at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio with 3rd degree burns on nearly three quarters of his body, and he ended up losing both hands.
Losing his hands was bad enough, but Juan's lack of confidence to go out into public alone has been one of the biggest hurdles for him.
But then he met Maverick, a yellow lab that was still in service dog training. Maverick instantly gravitated to Juan, even showing behaviors he hadn't even been taught yet.
There are so many veterans like Juan with PTSD and TBI who could benefit from a service dog. And with your help, DVNF is going to make sure that more veterans receive this help!
Give as generously as you can today, so that we can help heroes like Juan to overcome their difficulties through friends like Maverick. Just $25, $50, or even $100 could go a long way in helping us reach our goal of $50,000.
And that can be a world of difference to these men and women.
Sincerely,
Joseph VanFonda (USMC SgtMaj Ret.)
