The generosity of our donors allowed our National Service Officers to offer financial relief to over 200 wounded veterans and their families suffering in the wake of tornadoes and floods in Alabama, Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas so far in 2015. Local DAV chapters have helped with support on the ground by providing much needed food and supplies, including to some folks in Eastland, Texas. Watch Video Widow can count on DAV The widow of a Vietnam veteran found herself all alone after her husband died … or so she thought. But DAV stood by this widow just as she stood by her husband as he dealt with physical injuries and PTSD. Through your DAV membership, you stand by fellow veterans, including all who get their services from the DAV office in your town, letting them know they're not alone. Read More MORE NEWS FROM DAV DAV Reaches Major Milestone This year DAV became the first and only organization to represent over 1 million veterans before the Department of Veteran Affairs, as well as providing many more services for our nation's servicemen and women. Read More Local Chapter Keeps Veteran Moving A veteran's wife was unable to push his wheelchair, leaving the couple in desperate straits … until a Texas DAV chapter gave the gift of mobility with a motorized wheelchair. Read More Fight Continues For Women Veterans' Healthcare DAV calls on Congress to set deadlines for specific improvements to healthcare for female veterans, implementing findings from last year's landmark DAV study on needs of former servicewomen. Read More Supportive Care Prevents Homelessness To combat veteran homelessness, DAV participated in a roundtable discussion with a Connecticut congresswoman about the need to extend federal support for caregivers to help veterans stay in their homes.
